Arts

At The International School of Port of Spain (ISPS), the Arts are valued as important areas of learning. Here students explore the interrelated disciplines of Music, Dance, Drama and the Visual Arts.

What Our Students Learn

Our students learn the skills and processes involved in the creation of artistic works. Through the study of varied artists, performers and their works, students will come to value and appreciate the Arts. As teachers of the Arts, we provide an immersive environment that fosters originality, creativity, critical thinking and self-discovery. The learning process is strengthened by cross-curricular activities and inquiry based instruction.

At ISPS, students have the opportunity to experience the Fine Arts as part of a well-rounded curriculum and complete education. We believe that the study of the Fine Arts (drama, dance, music, and the visual arts) nurtures creativity and confidence as well as helps students explore realities, relationships, and ideas.

This belief is further supported by the introduction of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to follow-up those values and practices developed and fostered by our current PYP programme in Elementary School.

We believe that the study of the Fine Arts (drama, dance, music, and the visual arts) nurtures creativity and confidence as well as helps students explore realities, relationships, and ideas.
