Learning Technologies

Overview:

Personal devices connected to the internet have become ubiquitous in modern life. ISPS believes these tools should be harnessed to develop conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines, express ourselves confidently and creatively, and use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse and take responsible action on complex problems. We have adopted the ISTE Standards to guide the development of technology integration at ISPS Pre-K through Grade 12. Below are links to our instructional technology programs.

Part of our 2016-2020 Strategic Plan Goals focus on how we can best use technology for the betterment of our community.

ISPS Strategic Plan Goals:

Institutional Effectiveness: Build a 21st Century Workplace
Action Plan: Harness technology to increase administrative efficiency.

Educational Excellence: Provide a balanced learning experience that nurtures the unique potential of each student.
Action Plan: Support students, teachers and parents to confidently and effectively utilize information technology to build 21st Century attitudes and skills.

Students:

At ISPS students use technology to nurture their curiosity and creativity, independently and collaboratively. Students use a wide range of purposefully chosen technology tools to connect as global citizens, to develop their understandings, and demonstrate their learning.

Teachers:

Teachers at ISPS integrate technology into teaching and learning to create challenging learning experiences and prepare students to establish a career path or in pursuit of their higher education. Teachers provide students with the opportunity to build digital literacy skills that complement and reinforce critical thinking, reading, writing, math computations, creativity, and the numerous other instructional goals specific to each subject

At ISPS we encourage our teachers to participate in professional development offered at ISPS by our IT department and online via professional learning communities.

Infrastructure:

ISPS provides a well developed technology environment for the entire community. Wireless connectivity is available throughout the campus protected by a robust filtering system. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard, access to document cameras, student 1:1 devices in the elementary school (iPads PreK-Grade 2 and Chromebooks Grades 3-5) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in Grades 6-12. Students in grades 3-12, along with all faculty and staff, utilize the Google Apps For Education (GAFE) and PowerSchool Unified Classroom to communicate and collaborate.
