Human Anatomy in Elementary Art

The fifth graders are exploring human anatomy and learning to draw realistically and in proportion.  Using their peers to pose, as well as wooden mannequin models, students are exposed to different techniques to capture the human body in different gestures.  Students are also learning about the element of value and how to control the shading, tones and highlights by using pencils and oil pastels.  Their knowledge of value is then applied and expressed with their knowledge of drawing the human body.
