Grade 2 Students Study Landforms

During our PYP unit Where We Are in Place and Time, students learned about landforms. They were very excited to learn about all the different types of landforms and bodies of water. Students transferred their knowledge and excitement to the playground by constructing various landforms they learned about in class. While playing, they worked together as a team and collaborated to build various structures. Students discussed the details of each landform so they could recreate the perfect structure. Once completed, they recreated rain, waterfalls and rivers to demonstrate erosion and weathering. As Marc Bekoff said, “Play is training for the unexpected.”
