Business Math Students Learn SWOT

SWOT is usually an analysis done to help businesses chart a path to continued success but students applied it to their present position at school. This reflection gives students an opportunity to recognise their strengths and weaknesses and helps them to identify the opportunities that they have been afforded and the threats that may prevent them from achieving their objectives.

As we currently work diligently on building exemplary work ethic, students are focused on applying essential math skills to complex business calculations, that require precision and skill. We are practicing communicating calculations clearly and using the calculator correctly to ensure accuracy.

We have also indulged in readings and discussions about the impact that Covid-19 has had on the percentage change in prices. In addition, students have worked in groups to present the topic of averages (simple, weighted and geometric) to their classmates.  They are now manipulating these new formulae and will soon be diving further into the Mathematics of buying and selling as they touch on topics such as mark-up and margin.
