Read Aloud 21-Day Challenge
March is read aloud month. Together with ISPS, let's all join the 21-day challenge to create the habit of reading for just 15 minutes every day. That's all it takes.
Here's how it works:
- Every child, parent and guardian should read for at least 15 minutes a day for 21 days.
- Adults should read aloud to kids from birth on up, every day for at least 15 minutes. This is equivalent to 2-3 picture books with silver or red stars in our library. For older kids this may be a few chapters of a book.
- The goal is to also model reading at home. Kids are more likely to read on their own if they see us reading too!
- If you are on social media, you can join the challenge by using the hashtags in the infographic below. The most important thing though is to read to your kids and model reading.
- We have many books for you to borrow. You can visit the library to see what's new, read online in our digital library through the Sora app, or you can access classics through sites like The International Children's Digital Library and Project Gutenberg.
It only takes 21 days to form a habit - what better habit to have than reading aloud, daily for at least 15 minutes and preparing your child for learning, school and life!
